Merlin supplied and serviced
Quick Answer
We supply, install and service Merlin garage door openers across Perth. That covers a Merlin motor fitted to a roller, sectional or tilt door, and repairs or servicing on the Merlin unit already on your door: remotes, safety beams, drive gear, travel limits and the app connection. We look at the door and the opener before recommending anything, and we price the job before we start, with no call-out fee. Same-day service is available in every suburb north and south of the river.
Merlin openers in Perth: fitting new ones, fixing old ones
Merlin is one of the opener badges you see most on Perth garage doors, so the calls we get about it come in two kinds: people who want a Merlin unit fitted, and people with a Merlin already on the door that has stopped answering the remote, started grinding or dropped off the app. We do both. Merlin makes side-mounted openers for roller doors and rail-drive units for sectional and tilt doors, and its connected models pair with a phone through the myQ app so the door can be checked and closed from wherever you are. If you are still deciding on a brand, see how Merlin sits alongside the other openers we fit, or browse the opener range before we come out. If the Merlin you already have is the problem, the van that comes carries the remotes, beams and common parts to sort most faults on the spot.

How Our Repair Process Works
Look at the door
We check the door and whatever opener is on it, and tell you whether the Merlin can be repaired or should be replaced.
Quote first
A written price for the repair or the new unit before any work starts.
Repair or install
Faulty parts replaced on the existing unit, or the new Merlin mounted, aligned and plugged in.
Pair remotes and connect
Remotes and wall button coded, and the app connected on connected models.
Safety test
Limits, force and beams checked, door reversed on an obstruction.
Why Choose Perth Garage Doors Repairs
Merlin range knowledge
We know which Merlin unit suits a roller door, a sectional door under a bedroom, or a heavy tilt door.
Smart features set up properly
WiFi and myQ connected and tested on the day, not left for you to work out.
We repair, not just sell
An existing Merlin unit gets diagnosed and fixed where that makes sense, rather than replaced by default.
Honest repair-or-replace call
If a remote or a gear brings the opener back, that is what we quote. If the unit is done, we say so.
Safety tested
Force, limits and beams checked and the door reversed on an obstruction before we leave.
Fast, and often one visit
Same-day service across Perth, with common Merlin remotes, beams and parts on the van so most repairs finish in the one visit.

Frequently Asked Questions
Yes. Bunnings stocks Merlin openers as boxed DIY kits, and a handy owner with a light, well-balanced door can fit one. What we offer is different rather than better: we come out and look at the door first, so the unit is matched to its type and weight instead of picked off a shelf; we mount and align it, set the force and travel limits, fit and aim the safety beams, code the remotes and connect the app; and when a remote or a beam plays up later, the people who fitted it are the ones you ring. If you have already bought a kit and would rather not fit it, we can install that too.
Merlin is an Australian opener brand that sits within the Chamberlain group, and it is one of the most widely fitted on Perth homes, which means parts, remotes and know-how are easy to come by, and that counts for a lot ten years in. The range covers roller-door units and rail-drive openers for sectional and tilt doors, with belt-drive, battery-backup and myQ app-connected options on some models. Like any opener, how long one lasts depends more on the door it drives than on the badge: a balanced door with clean tracks gives the motor an easy life, a heavy or dragging door wears it early. We fit Merlin alongside Jaytech, Superlift and Steel-Line and put the options side by side at the quote.
We price it after seeing the door, because the range between a small repair and a full replacement is wide. On the repair side it comes down to the part: a new remote coded to the unit, a pair of safety beams, a drive gear or a circuit board are each a different job, and on an older Merlin the question is whether the board is still obtainable. On the replacement side it is the model and its features, and the type and weight of the door it will move. Access and after-hours call-outs move the figure too. The quote is free, there is no call-out fee, and the job is priced before we start. If the motor on your door is not a Merlin, repairing another brand's opener works the same way.
It depends on what has failed. On most Merlin units the motor, gear, circuit board and rail or drive are separate parts, so a stripped gear or a dead board can be replaced on its own, and that is a normal repair rather than a new opener. Where the motor itself has burnt out on a unit that is otherwise old, or the board has gone and Merlin no longer makes it, a whole new opener is usually the sounder spend, because you would be putting a new heart into a body that is near the end anyway. And before any of that, we check the door: a motor straining against tired springs or gritty tracks is the symptom, not the fault, and a new one will go the same way.
The faults we see most on Merlin units are the same ones that turn up on any opener as it ages. Remotes that stop pairing or work only up close, often a flat battery, a worn button or a remote from the wrong generation for that unit; if you have a fresh remote in hand, our guide to coding a Merlin remote walks through it. Safety beams knocked out of line by a bin or a bike, or blinded by low afternoon sun on a west-facing door, so the door will not close. WiFi and myQ dropouts, usually a weak signal reaching the garage or a router change. Then the wear items: a drive gear that strips so the motor hums without moving the door, and, on older units, a circuit board that gives up. Most of these are repairs, not replacements.
We would rather you did not, and not for the sake of the work. The door's springs stay under tension the whole time, and a sectional or tilt door that is out of balance can drop once the opener is released from it. The unit is mounted overhead from a ladder and has to be aligned to the door's travel, and while most Merlin openers plug into an ordinary power point, one that is missing near the motor is an electrician's job. Then the force and travel limits have to be set and the safety beams aimed so the door stops and reverses off a person or a car; that setting is the part that keeps people safe and the part DIY installs most often get wrong. Swapping a remote battery or re-aiming a knocked beam is fine to do yourself.
Repairs are usually the quicker visit. Coding a remote, replacing safety beams or connecting the app are short jobs, and with the common Merlin parts on the van a gear or board swap generally finishes in the same visit. A like-for-like replacement, old Merlin down and a new one up on the same door, is normally a few hours including remotes, beams and testing. Automating a door that has never had a motor takes longer, since the mounting, wiring and power have to be set up from scratch, and a tilt door needs its arm and brackets fitted as well. If the door itself needs springs or rollers before a motor should go on it, we tell you that at the quote rather than partway through.
