Kicker Bolt – 150T
View part →
Power arms and arm kits, kicker bolts, wind struts and torsion poles for tilt (up-and-over) doors, including the Nightingale range. Tilt doors are still common on older Perth homes and their hardware is not interchangeable with sectional gear.
Power arms are the geared linkages that carry a tilt door through its arc. They are sized by rating — 107J, 150J and 200J on the lighter jamb-mounted range, and T125, 150T, 250T and 300T on the heavier track types — and the rating has to match the door's weight and height.
Kicker bolts hold the arm to the door and take a lot of shock load each cycle. A rattling tilt door usually has a worn kicker bolt or an elongated hole where one has been working loose for some time.
Wind struts brace the panel across its width so it does not flex or drum in wind. Perth's afternoon sea breeze is the reason a large tilt door without adequate bracing eventually bows.
If you are replacing arms, replace them as a matched pair. A door running on one new arm and one worn one twists in the opening and puts the whole frame out.
The rating is matched to the door's weight and height, and the existing arms are usually stamped. If they are not legible, measure the door and tell us its construction — we can identify the right rating from that.
Most often worn kicker bolts or elongated fixing holes where the arm attaches to the door. It can also be a missing or loose wind strut letting the panel flex.
Yes, with an opener suited to a tilt door and arms in good condition. The door needs to be correctly balanced first — automating a heavy or binding tilt door destroys openers.
